ON THE day Jeremy Corbyn visited Bolton, the town’s Green Party called once more for a ‘progressive alliance’ to fight the Conservatives.
The Greens have not fielded a candidate in the marginal Bolton West constituency at each of the last two elections, so as not to take votes away from Labour.
Chris Green won for the Tories on both occasions by fewer than 1,000 votes.
Bolton Greens chairman Alan Johnson said: “A progressive alliance of Labour, Lib Dem and Greens could keep out dangerous and costly Tory policies of Brexit, Trident, HS2 and fracking - but only if we have a reform of the voting system. It is time for Labour to come off the fence.”
