A GENEROUS granny has gifted the year’s family membership for David Lloyd Health Club she won through a Bolton News competition to her nearest and dearest.
Kind-hearted Jennifer Caldwell wanted her husband Chris, daughter Gillian and grandchildren Dylan and Evie Hunt to enjoy the free passes to David Lloyd Health Club.
Mrs Caldwell, of Dunblane Avenue, Ladybridge, is disabled, so unable to use the gym herself.
But the 70-year-old was delighted to have won the prize – worth £2,500-on her family’s behalf.
News of the win came as a surprise to Ms Caldwell, who lives in Middle Hulton.
She said: “I didn’t even know Mum had entered it, to be honest, so it came as a bit of a shock.”
The 49-year-old added that she was particularly looking forward to swimming at the health club.
Mr Caldwell, who has six marathons to his name, said that Dylan, aged 11, and Evie, aged nine, would particularly enjoy making use of the membership.
The former headteacher at Top o’ the Brow Primary School said: “They are looking forward to going, particularly tennis and swimming – all the sports.
And remarking on his wife’s kind gesture he added: “It’s very nice – anything to get us out of the house!”
Mrs Caldwell was one of hundreds of entries for our token collection competition which ran in The Bolton News during July.
