A PHARMACY held an event to raise funds towards ground-breaking treatment for a dad-of-five who is battling cancer.

S and S Pharmacy, in Deane Road, put on a fun day in aid of Andrew Davis, from Farnworth which raised £500.

Staff sold tea, coffee and cakes to customers and there was also a raffle, games and prizes.

Mr Davis, who has liver cancer, has been told he has no more than a year to live by doctors.

His family is hoping to raise enough cash to pay for him to have proton beam treatment, immunotherapy or other innovative treatments not available on the NHS in a bid to prolong his life.

Pharmacist Mohammed Naheem, said: “I have known Andrew and his family for nearly two years now and they are like family to me and my team.

“I am always here for them and will endeavour to do much more for Andrew, my patients and the community in whole.”

This is why I became a pharmacist and love the job I do today, as it let’s me help people from all walks of life.

“I will be donating £200 from my own pocket to help Andrew and his family in their fight against cancer.”
