BOLTON’S Liberal Democrats are calling for more action to combat homelessness in the town.
Local party leader Cllr Andrew Martin wants Labour council leader Cliff Morris to back a motion at next week’s council meeting demanding an end to rough sleeping in Bolton.
Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has previously pledged to end homelessness by 2020.
Cllr Martin said: “The issue of homelessness is too important for partisan politics.
“This is why we are inviting the Labour leader to second our motion and show that the council is committed to working together across political boundaries to combat the issue.
“We are confident that Cllr Morris, the Labour group and councillors from all other parties will come out in support of this vital motion.”
The full council meeting will be held at 7pm next Wednesday.
