Just the ticket

TICKET office opening hours at railway stations across Greater Manchester have been adjusted to meet demand across the network.

The changes will affect the booth at Bromley Cross, which will close at 1.20pm, rather than 2pm, from Monday to Friday. However, the office will open for an extra three hours on Saturdays, between 7.45am and 2.20pm.

Horwich Parkway booking office's hours will be extended to 6.20am to 7.35pm, Monday to Saturday, while Lostock's hours will be reduced, opening between 6.20am and 7.35pm.

On weekdays, Farnworth will be open until 1pm instead of 1.45pm, Walkden until 12.50pm instead of 2pm, and Hindley until 12.40pm instead of 1.15pm.

Station operator Northern Rail says the changes will free up an extra member of staff to be on duty at Bolton station between 7am and 9pm.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive interim service delivery director Michael Renshaw said: "Hours of opening of booking offices at some stations have been reduced when there is little demand for ticket purchase. These hours have been used to provide extra staffing at busier stations."
