WANDERERS Under-18s' mixed start to the campaign continued with a 4-1 home defeat to QPR on Tuesday afternoon.

In their second U18 Professional Development League clash against London opposition in four days, the young Whites were looking to build on a creditable goalless draw at Crystal Palace last Saturday.

And they started on the front foot, attacking from the first whistle.

In what was an end-to-end opening, both sides missed opportunities.

But Nicky Spooner's hosts broke the deadlock on 11 minutes when Cameron Moore slotted home from 10 yards.

There were chances to double the advantage with Luca Navarro going close before QPR equalised on 20 minutes.

And they turned the game around before the break when a deflected shot gave them a 2-1 lead.

The visitors began brightly after the restart and two goals in quick succession took the game away from Wanderers.

They responded well but could not break down the Rangers defence in the closing stages.

Wanderers U18s are back on home soil again on Saturday when Charlton Athletic are the visitors to the Eddie Davies Academy, kick off 11am.
