DENNIS Politic netted a hat-trick as Wanderers Under-18s bounced back from home defeat to QPR with a 3-1 triumph against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The 17-year-old Romanian gave Nicky Spooner's side the lead and added two more in the second half to seal the points in the U18 Professional Development League clash.

Wanderers were on the front foot from kick off and Luca Navarro twice went close to breaking the deadlock, while Cameron Moore also went close.

The goal finally arrived on 20 minutes when Luca Connell broke up the play and passed to Politic who took the ball on the run and slotted home.

Politic almost doubled the lead soon after but his shot came back off the posts.

The visitors had been second best but were handed a way into the game from the penalty spot but Whites stopper James Aspinall saved the spot-kick.

It got worse for the Addicks when a straight red card for a foul on Connell reduced them to 10 men.

But they did get level before half time after some sloppy defending by Wanderers.

After the break Wanderers were patient but were back in front when Politic netted a free kick he had won from outside the box.

And he sealed victory with his third goal to please coach Spooner.

He said: "We went out wanting a reaction from our last game against QPR and we attacked from the start and created good chances.

"After it went to 1-1, we came out for the second half knowing Charlton would be difficult to break down so we had to be patient in our attack and we were, dominating possession."
