The August event was attended by more than 200 people, with many bowling for the first time.

Jock’s children Steven Conaghan, Paul Conaghan and Kathryn Gilbert presented Bolton Hospice's staff with the cheque.

Sister Lisa Tate added: "We would like to thank the Conaghan family for their support over the past 25 years.

"We are delighted to have been given this wonderful donation in our silver celebration year. It will enable the hospice to continue to care for local people at a time when they need it most. Thank you!"
