Police assault man fined

A MAN has been fined £200 by Bolton magistrates after he admitted assaulting a police officer on May 20.
Adam Janson, aged 23, of Langford Gardens, Bolton, initially denied committing the offence but then changed his plea to guilty.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £280 in prosecution costs and charges.

Unpaid work order for assault man

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 135 hours unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on two occasions.
Adam Handley, aged 29, of Wilton Street, Bolton, committed the crimes on March 13 and July 10. At the time he was subject to a conditional discharge for a criminal damage offence.
In addition to the unpaid work Handley was ordered to pay his victim £120 compensation plus £350 towards prosecution costs.

Convicted man to wear tag

A MAN has been electronically tagged after magistrates found him guilty of using threatening behaviour towards a woman and causing damage, estimated at £400 to her windows on April 20.
Alex Doherty, aged 27, of Fairfield Road, Farnworth, had denied committing the offences but was convicted following a trial at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
He will be subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew for six weeks, was fined £370 and must pay a total of £625 in costs and charges.
A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victim.

Threats man sentenced

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 120 hours unpaid work after he admitted using threatening behaviour on July 18. Ameer Hamza, aged 20, of Wigan Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £50 compensation, participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.

£200 penalty for beggar

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £50 after he was caught begging in Newport Street, Bolton, on August 1.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court, the case against Christian Legg, aged 25, of no fixed address, was proved in his absence.
In addition to the fine, Legg was ordered to pay £140 in costs and charges.

Benefit cheat sentenced 

A BENEFIT cheat has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Donna Rushton, aged 34, of Mobberley Road, Breightmet, pleaded guilty to not informing Bolton Council of a pay increase affecting her entitlement to housing benefit between March 2014 and August 2016.
The court heard that Rushton is of previous good character, remorseful and is paying the money back.
In addition to the sentence Rushton was ordered to pay £70 towards costs and charges.
