A BEAUTY queen is bidding to become the second ever Miss Lancashire from the Bolton area.

Beth Dove, aged 21, was last year's Miss Bury and Bolton before handing over the sash in August.

But now the law graduate from Horwich is setting her sights higher and is hoping to represent at a county level.

She will be competing against 37 others across Lancashire at the final on November 3 in her bid to become the second ever Miss Lancashire from Bolton, the first being the current Miss North West Lucy Physick who held the title in 2015/16.

Miss Dove said: "I am excited now I have met all the girls. It is going to be a fun final. We all get along so well. I have still got a lot of work to do but I am so excited.

"I love being involved in my community and this has really helped me with my confidence as well. I think that I am a totally different person to how I used to be.

"I think it will be a very, very hard competition but I have got to be optimistic. To be honest though I am just happy to be a part of it and to be able to compete."

Miss Dove has been tirelessly campaigning and fundraising for children's charity Variety, but she has also been raising awareness of the plight of homeless people in the county.

She has been travelling around Lancashire volunteering and donating to shelters, with her collections mostly focussed on around sanitary products and toiletries

She said: "It is just something that is so dear to me. I am so passionate about it so I want to carry on doing it.

"I have asked for as many donations to my collection as possible, my collection is mainly focused around sanitary products and toiletries as so many shelters cannot meet high demands for such items despite them being household essentials for everyone.

"As a woman myself, I couldn't imagine life on the streets, especially at a time where sanitary products are not readily available.

"I have teamed up with shelters to donate these products and to raise awareness to encourage others to donate them as well as food."

Miss Dove will be holding a charity sleep out in October, where she will spend a night sleeping on the streets.
