A FORMER Bury College student who now works as an engineer at a major international company is campaigning to encourage other young women to follow in her footsteps.
Lisa Hill, aged 28, completed A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Physics at the college in 2007, before studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bolton, where she achieved a first-class degree.
After university, Lisa started working for Cummins, one of the leading designers and manufacturers of high-performance diesel engines in the world, where she has since progressed through the ranks.
With engineering often recognised as a male-dominated industry, Lisa now hopes to inspire other women to pursue a career in a field.
Lisa, who is originally from Bury, said: “My advice to other students who are thinking about a career as a female engineer would be to not let the fact that this is still a male-dominated field deter you.
“I would encourage students to continue to work towards their goals, if you’re prepared to work hard then everything will come together in the end.”
