A MOTHER says she is putting her house up for sale after having four cars written off outside her home in 21 years.

Terri Eva, aged 46, fell victim to the latest crash in St Helens Road last weekend when her Vauxhall Corsa was badly damaged.

A Peugeot 206, Nissan Note and Vauxhall Nova had previously been wrecked in collisions.

Now she says she has had enough and is moving out.

Mrs Eva, who lives in the road with her son Christian, daughter Bryony and husband Graham, says she has witnessed several crashes in the time she has lived there.

She said: "This community is my life, but I can't live on this road any more when accidents are happening every week.

"We have started the process of putting our house up for sale. My nights are sleepless and it is emotionally draining.

"My nerves are shot to pieces. I hear this hollow thud every week and I know what it is.

"On Saturday, another driver lost control of their car by driving too fast and wrote my car off for the fourth time.

"The police attend and take a log, but because there is never a serious injury nothing ever gets done about it.

"It feels normal now. We hear a bang, everyone on the street goes outside to make sure everyone is safe and we are left to clear up the debris.

"We need speed cameras and help on the road but no one wants to know."

A year after Mrs Eva moved into her home she was run over by a car in St Helens Road and broke both of her legs. She spent three months in hospital and she said it is inevitable that it will happen again to her or someone else.

In July this year another major accident happened on the road when a car ploughed into parked cars and a wall, taking out a gate post which smashed through a window of a house during a police pursuit.

In 2015 a motorcyclist was killed on the road and earlier that year a four-year-old girl had to be airlifted to hospital after a dramatic crash, which left a car impaled on metal railings.

In 2013, Mohammed Patel and Furqaan Mohmed were jailed after "racing" at 80 miles per hour in the road, before crashing and badly injuring a 12-year-old boy.

Hulton councillor, Shafaqat Shaikh who lives in the road, said: "We are always trying to get extra measures on the road. I understand how this lady feels with the numerous accidents over the years. We have managed to get some measures in place but with the cuts it is hard."

A council spokesman said: “We understand residents’ concerns. Enforcing of speed controls is a police matter and we would urge motorists to drive responsibly. We have also worked with our partners previously to educate the public about the dangers of speeding.”
