A 65-YEAR-OLD woman waited an hour and three minutes for an ambulance after she fell this afternoon.
Lynn Walker was walking her dog on the Scholey Street footbridge across St Peter’s Way when she fell and broke her leg. A passer-by called an ambulance at 2.46pm.
Philip Ashford arrived after the passer-by called his wife and stayed with his mother-in-law as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
He said he could not take Mrs Walker, who lives in The Haulgh, to hospital because he had been advised not to move her.
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We are very sorry that there was a delay in responding on this occasion.
“It’s been very busy day and there were no ambulances available at the time of this call. As soon as a crew became available they were sent immediately to help. If the patient or her family would like to discuss this incident with us directly they should contact our patient experience team.”
The crew took Mrs Walker to the Royal Bolton Hospital.
