THIS week’s delve into The Bolton News picture archives has unearthed a photo from the Bolton Boys' Federation annual presentation night in May 1971. The picture shows former Bolton Wanderers player Paul Fletcher, left, handing over the Intermediate Section cup to Eagley Mills skipper John Baimak, but who are the other players? Are you one of them or do you recall that team? Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any memories or information.

For the second picture, in the sporting nostalgia section on September 12 we featured a photograph of a Platts XI football team from 1969 and asked for more details. Reader Steve Pritchard recognised himself on the picture and said: "I am the handsome 18-year-old on the back row, second from right! Now being 65, I feel entitled to promote myself. George Platt, who ran the team, was a real enthusiast and we had a really good team. George also had a couple of decent lodgers who we met frequently, Sam Allardyce and Paul Jones. I often bumped into Sam at the chippy on Lea Gate Lane. Sadly, my memory prevents me from remembering all my team-mates' names." Meanwhile, Geoff Taylor also got in touch and said: "I have just seen the archive photo of Platts XI football team in The Bolton News. The lad on the far right, back row, was my late brother Raymond Taylor (Ticker) who died in 1974 and the lad on the back row, left, I believe is Stan Kendall, who now lives in New Zealand."
