LIKE Baby and Johnny, Danny and Sandy, Fred and Ginger or Widdecombe and du Beke – it always takes two to make the best Tangos.

And that is why Bolton Hospice is making an urgent appeal for Boltonian men.

The charity has launched its 2018 Strictly Learn to Dance contest and – like with previous years – it is in need of dancers.

A number of couples are paired up for the fundraising event but while many of the women’s places are taken up, the hospice is still looking for 14 men to take part.

Former contestant Kevin Walsh, aged 35, said: “I won’t lie to you. Strictly Learn to Dance is hot, sweaty, tiring work - and worth every second!

“Raising money for such an important local charity whilst meeting some amazing people, having a great laugh and losing a bit of weight in the process, it’s one of the most memorable experiences you will ever have. Do it!”

Whether they are a twinkle toes or have two left feet, the hospice wants to make competitors Fred Astaires for the night in the biggest dance event in Bolton.

Strictly Learn to Dance is a sponsored event in aid of the charity and participants must commit to 12 weeks of training with professional dance tutors from A Touch of Class Dance School, starting in January.

No previous dance experience is necessary and there is no need to be in a couple already as each participant is paired up.

Another former contestant, 61-year-old Peter Hindle added: “Learning to dance was the best thing I’ve ever done, the people you meet will be new friends, the training is fantastic fun.”

The grand finale is on April 14 where all participants will showcase a social foxtrot, quickstep and one of four specialist dances; Salsa, Cha-Cha, Argentine Tango and Rock N Roll.
