LUCA Navarro scored twice but 10-man Wanderers Under-18s had to settle for a share of the spoils from a 3-3 home draw with Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

The young Whites began the U18 Professional Development League clash with the wind at their backs at the Eddie Davies Academy but did not take full advantage early on.

They fell behind when they conceded a goal direct from a corner but responded well to the setback.

Causing the visitors problems going forward, Wanderers were level on 25 minutes when Navarro cut in from the left and beat the Crewe keeper from outside the box.

And they went ahead when Navarro struck again, this time moving inside from the opposite flank and again firing home from distance to send Nicky Spooner's side into the break in front.

After the break, Wanderers were playing against the strong wind but counter-attacked well and Navarro went close to completing a hat-trick after a one-two with Matty Fearnley but his effort was saved.

It looked to be going the way of the young Whites until a debatable free kick went against them when it looked like Shakeel Jones-Griffiths had been fouled and Crewe scored from a header from the resulting set-piece.

It got worse for the hosts when Ted Moulden was shown a harsh red card after a collision with a Crewe player was again deemed a foul.

But the 10 men rallied and went back in front when Luca Connell netted from distance.

After that they looked to see out the victory but another decision went against them in stoppage time and Crewe equalised from a free kick to deny Spooner's side all three points.
