GLODWICK marched on at the top of the Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division with a resounding 26-4 victory over fourth-bottom Ladybridge A.

Third-placed Flixton Cricket Club A kept up the pressure with a 26-7 win against Little Lever Cricket Club A in which Philip Bowen and Stephen Scowcroft scored maximum points.

Flixton Cricket Club B’s players were also on form with maximum nines as they beat Hilton A 27-4.

Ramsbottom Town B beat Wharton 21-13 helped by a nine from Brian Clements.

Neither team could get the better of the other in a 16-16 draw fought out by bottom-of-the-table pair Nomads and Burning Desire in which Charles Musa scored nine for the former.

Division One saw the return of Farnworth SC A’s top player John Hutchinson in his first match of the season and his nine points gave them their first win of the season as they beat Hilton E 22-9.

Hilton C also went down 22-15 to Little Lever B assisted by a nine from Paul Tatlock.

Leaders Ramsbottom Town C had a maximum-points 27-9 win against mid-table Wingates, and second-placed Hilton B had an impressive 26-7 victory over mid-table Meadow Ben A with nines from David Andrews and John Davies.

Coburg beat Hilton D 21-14 with a nine from Derek Watmough, while Ramsbottom D – with one fully registered player short – lost 18-15 to Heaton Cricket Club A.

New Division Three team Polonia Club B, who were still looking for their first win of the season, broke their duck against a Meadow Hill A side without their top player.

The 20-16 victory included nine points for Nicolai Jitek.

Top team Walkden Methodists maintained their good form with a 21-10 win against Ladybridge C with nines from Carl Bennett and Steve Kelsall.

Meadow Ben D achieved a good 23-11 result against Hilton G assisted by a nine from Alan Weall.

Juniors Hilton H won 26-7 against a struggling two-man Farnworth SC D, while Hilton F beat bottom team Albany 24-6 with nines from Jeff Saunders and Ian Raby.

In the bottom half of the table Irlam Steel SC thrashed Meadow Hill B with a maximum-point 27-4 victory in which top-of-the-averages David Yates was man of the match.
