FIRE crews came under attack as they left the scene of a blaze on Monday evening.
Yobs threw an object at a fire engine as crews were leaving Holly Grove on the border of Leigh and Atherton at around 8pm.
Firefighters had been called to the area after a mattress had been deliberately set alight on a back street.
Watch Manager at Leigh Fire Station, Marc Murphy said: "We have had problems in the area for a while.
"Fortunately no one was injured and the object did not cause significant damage to the to the appliance.
"These incidents are reported to the police and CCTV footage from the appliance is looked at."
He added: "Incidents like this could prevent the appliance attending a more serious incident."
