TODAY’S Looking Back photograph shows a street in a nearby town that many of our readers will recognise.

Although this is Walkden, and here were see Bolton Road, we know that many of our readers either used to live in this part of town or do so now.

Its proximity to Farnworth and the fact it was once closely associated with Bolton makes Walkden a very familiar place to many people.

Here we see a view of the town centre of Walkden but this area has changed very much over the years since this particular picture was taken.

This scene was snapped in March 1993 and we can see the town centre looking towards what was once the Arndale Centre.

This was a thriving, busy part of Walkden and it is still a busy little town today.

This particular centre has been replaced today by a much more modern, contemporary-style centre incorporating the Tesco store.
