FOLK legends from across the area came together to entertain music lovers at the seventh annual Edgworth Folk Festival.

The showcase at The Barlow began on Friday with a Ceilidh with The Riot Band as well as dance displays from Liz Calderbank and Leap To Your Feet.

Saturday and Sunday was packed full of concerts and singarounds as well as music sessions, displays, stalls and instrument and song workshops.

Performances and workshops were put on by artists including Stanley Accrington, One Accord, Scolds Bridle, Peter And Barbara Snape, Close Quarters, Music for All and Tom Perry And Clive Brookes.

The event was held in aid of The Barlow to ensure its future development as a hub for the community.

Brain Frew, chairman of the folk festival committee, said: "The building needs all the support it can get from the local community and this is an effort to raise money to ensure that it can continue to develop.

"This is the seventh year that we have run the event and each year it has managed to grow.

"The money raised by previous festivals has been used to improve significantly the facilities in the building."
