BOLTON’S MPs have added their names to a letter urging the Prime Minister to protect jobs at BAE Systems.

The letter, signed by 142 MPs, comes after the defence manufacturer announced last week that it is planning to cut almost 2,000 jobs.

Chris Green, Sir David Crausby, and Yasmin Qureshi have all asked the Government to bring forward an order for replacements of the Hawk plane, flown by the Red Arrows, to save jobs at BAE and keep production in the UK.

Mr Green said: “I’m pleased that the government has made clear it is committed to working with BAE to save jobs. One of the ways that this could be done is by bringing forward the contract to replace the Red Arrow’s fleet – not only will this protect jobs, it will also ensure that planes are manufactured in the UK.”
