A BOLTON surgery is the picture of perfect health as it celebrates life in the community.

The Health and Wellbeing exhibition features inspiring photographs from around the area put on display in an unusual location.

Photo fans can find the pieces in Tonge Fold Health Centre, which commissioned the work, and open to the public across November.

The camera club photographers, based at the Trinity Methodist Church, worked with local organisations and community groups – from the Tonge with the Haulgh community choir to the Thicketford Centre Yoga Group.

Sir David Crausby, MP for Bolton North East, officially launched the showcase. He said: "It was a pleasure to open the exhibition and it’s certainly worth having a little walk around the health centre to take it all in.

"The Camera Club have done a marvellous job capturing the feel of the local community and it’s great to see that on display for everyone to enjoy."

It is not the only new health and art project to come out of are with more expected soon thanks to the Big Local Project.

Since its inception in 2014 following a £1 million donation from the Big Lottery Fund, the Big Local Steering group was created to empower resident to decide how to allocate funding to improve the health and wellbeing of the community.

GP Dr John Scott said: "Now is a very exciting time to be a resident of Tonge and the Haulgh.

"The exhibition is a great example of the many things our patients and their community are doing to improve their Health and Wellbeing.”

"Over the coming year, in collaboration with the Big Local, we hope to further improve the health of our patients; for example those with mental health problems, carers, school age children, the elderly and our working age population."
