A MAN was found hanged two days after he was treated for taking an overdose, a court has heard.

The opening of the inquest into the death of Jeffrey McCaffer, of Kensington Court, Dawson Lane, was held at Bolton Coroner’s Court yesterday.

Police coroner’s officer Julie-Ann Hyde told the court a post-mortem examination found the medical cause of the 53-year-old’s death, on October 15 was hanging.

Mr McCaffer's body was discovered by police at his home address after a carer reported concern for his welfare.

Two days earlier he was seen by medics at the A&E department at Royal Bolton Hospital after taking an overdose of prescription medication.

Coroner Alan Walsh adjourned the inquest to January 22, 2018.
