A FIRE which broke out at a disused building yesterday evening is being treated as arson.
Firefighters were called to the building on Cotton Street, Bolton, around 8pm on Saturday, November 18.
Crews were able to tackle the fire within 15 minutes but remained on scene into late evening, after the fire caught spread to the roof space.
Crew Manager Tony Wilson at Bolton Central Fire Station said: "The building had been broken into and a fire started.
"It was confined to a corner measuring 10 metres by six metres but had affected the roof space which had charred and damaged the underneath of it.
"We put out the fire within about 10 or 15 minutes.
"We have saved the building and police are also investigating."
Three fire engine were called to the building and crews remained on scene in case there were pockets of fire in the roof space.
