FOOTAGE has emerged of a man who suffered severe injuries after climbing a fence.

The man had climbed a railing outside CW Garage in Crompton Way and got his foot trapped in the fence when he fell.

It is not known why the man was climbing over the fence but the incident has been reported to police.

The video, which was posted on Facebook by the garage’s owner, Paul Taylor, shows the man landing in a heap on the ground before a friend pulls up in a white van and attempts to help him.

When the friend realises he is unable to lift the man back over the fence, he calls for an ambulance, but drives off before it arrives.

Fire and ambulance services attended the scene at about midnight on Saturday, November 13, with firefighters cutting a lock to reach the injured man and lifting him free of the fence.

Watch manager Mick Hodson said the man had severely injured his foot and the crew had to clean the area as there was blood on the footpath in Crompton Way, near to the junction with Bury Road.

The fire service was there for about 20 minutes and paramedics took the man to hospital.

Paul Taylor, owner of CW Garage, said: “It happened first thing on Sunday morning but I only found out about it when I came in on Monday and looked at the CCTV. I saw what had happened so rang the police who said they hadn’t been called out to it."

Mr Taylor complained no one from the emergency services contacted him so the gates could be unlocked.

He added: “We have had lots of problems with people jumping over the gates and smashing windows.

“About six to nine months ago I saw on CCTV that a lad had kicked a load of mirrors off the cars and then thrown them at windscreens.

“It was only a few months ago that next door had a break-in. They have also had continuous problems.”

A police spokesman said that the incident was reported to them on the Monday afternoon and is currently under investigation.
