A FAMILY of five were involved in a head on crash in Worsley last night.
A six-year-old boy was checked over by paramedics for seatbelt injuries and then taken to Salford Royal Hospital.
The fire crew from Farnworth were called to the scene at about 6pm in East Lancashire Road at the junction with Walkden Road.
A silver Nissan Qashqai had been involved in a collision with a dark blue BMW.
Crew manager Mike O'Neill, said: "When we got there everyone was out of their vehicles and a six-year-old child had seatbelt injuries.
"We assessed the child and waited for the ambulance."
Mr O'Neill warned the conditions of the road could have been a factor in the crash and urged other drivers to take care in the cold conditions.
No one else in the family or the driver of the other car was injured in the crash though Mr O'Neill suspected both cars had been written off.
Both police and ambulance service attended the scene and a bollard was damaged in the crash.
