A MUSICIAN backed by an award-winning record producer was back in his hometown to perform in Bolton’s magical winter wonderland this week.

Alex James Brierley, a 20-year-old from Horwich, was the guest on Mike Sweeney’s BBC Radio Manchester show, which broadcast from Victoria Square — where the presenter, who described the ice rink as one of the nicest he had seen and Victoria Square as gorgeous.

Alex, a singer songwriter, who is being supported by Steven Levine — who has worked with The Clash — was invited on to the show, and poignantly performed Chris Rea’s Driving Home for Christmas ,

Alex said: “I haven’t be to Bolton for a while it was nice to perform here and see the ice rink.
