THREE elderly people were taken to hospital after a car crash in Farnworth.

The incident, which involved three vehicles, happened at the junction of Lavender Road and Bradford Road at 12.20pm today.

Three people — two aged 72 and one aged 77 — were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital via ambulance, suffering from neck and back injuries.

Farnworth fire station watch manager Carl Haslam said: "Two of the cars were extensively damaged in the crash. We aren't sure exactly what happened, but police are investigating."
