GEMMA Atkinson’s Strictly dreams came to end tonight as she missed out on winning the competition.

The Bury-born actress and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec took to the dancefloor three times as they attempted to impress judges one last time in tonight's grand final.

Of the four remaining couples, Alexandra Burke topped the leaderboard on the night, but it was Holby City star Joe McFadden and his dance partner Katya Jones, who were crowned champions at the end of the evening.

Gemma, aged 33, reached the final, where she went up against fellow contestants Debbie McGee, Joe McFadden and Alexandra Burke, despite reaching the dreaded dance off for the first time last week.

Tonight, she impressed judges with her showdance to Show Me How You Burlesque by Christina Aguilera. The dance received a standing ovation from judge Shirley Ballas.

However, Craig Revel Horwood was less impressed, saying “I liked it, but didn’t love it.”

Her and Skorjanec also danced a paso doble to Coldplay's Viva La Vida, as well as an American smooth to Downtown by Petula Clark, for which they received three ten ratings from judges.

However, in the end it was not enough to secure the title as McFadden walked away with the Glitterball Trophy.

All four finalists will star in a live arena tour across the UK from January 2018.
