ALL bin collections in Bolton will be two days late next week.

Bolton Council has announced changes to its refuse and recycling collection schedules over the Christmas and New Year period.

Bins will be emptied as normal up to and including this Friday, but there will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Instead, all collections in the week beginning December 25 will be two days later. And collections will be one day later in the week beginning January 1.

Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for environmental services, Cllr Nick Peel, said: “There will be some changes to waste and recycling services over the holiday period and every effort has been made to minimise disruption.

“Thanks to our residents we are on target to achieve a recycling rate of 47 per cent this year which is great news.

“We are also expecting a bumper recycling collection over the festive period. We know that this is a time when a lot of extra rubbish is generated, most of which can be recycled.

“We know it is a busy time but please make good use of your recycling bins and remember to put the right things in the right bin.

“If every household in Bolton recycled one more magazine over the festive period, it would save enough energy to power a school for nearly four and a half months.”
