A DEVELOPER has been given the green light to build a new apartment block next to a high school.
Bolton Council has agreed to let the offices of J D Electrical Contractors, next to Turton School in Bromley Cross, be demolished and built 12 flats in their place.
The applicant, The Vault Dawn Pension Fund, says that the existing building would ‘require significant refurbishment’ to make it appealing to any potential new tenants, after the electrical company relocates to a new custom-built premises.
Council planning officers said that the plans for the site, which is opposite Bromley Cross railway station, would be ‘compatible with the character and appearance of the area’ and ‘ not unduly harm the amenity of neighbouring or future residents’.
