PEOPLE are being urged to sign up for a starlit stroll to remember lost loved ones and raise vital funds.

Registration for Bolton Hospice’s annual Midnight Memories Walk is now open to all those who wish to take part.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 16 - and this time there is a new starting point.

Participants will begin the eight-mile walk from the Market Place, in Bolton town centre, before heading for the hospice in Chorley New Road.

There will then be a pit-stop at Meadowhill Nursery for refreshment before fundraisers take on the second half of the loop.

Walkers will set up their own Just Giving fundraising pages for the hospice and carry different coloured lanterns depending on why they are taking part.

Those participating in memory of loved ones carry pink lanterns, supporters of the hospice hold blue ones, while survivors of life-threatening illnesses take a yellow lantern with them.

During the event walkers will light up the sky with their lanterns and share a special minute’s silence — a time to reflect and to celebrate all those who are still with us and remember those who are not.

The walk ends back where it began, at the Market Place. All those who complete the course will receive a medal

Earlybird registration is £15 and available until March 31, including a fundraising pack, a Midnight Walk T-shirt, a banana for the walk and either a pasty of bacon sandwich.

Standard registration after March 31 will be £20.
