A WOMAN has died after a fall in a pub in Westhoughton.

Police were called to the Rosehill Tavern on Leigh Road at 12.15am on Sunday.

An ambulance was also called to the scene.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

One resident said: “I saw the paramedics arrive and then the police came later but I didn’t know what was going on. I’m shocked, it’s usually a quiet street.”

The pub did not want to comment on the incident, but a barmaid said the woman was well-known in the area.

"The police have confirmed they are treating it as an accident and Joseph Holt are working together with the police and the HSE during their investigation.
