TWO Brownie leaders from Leigh are set for a series of gruelling physical challenges to raise money for children’s charity the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Vikki Hodkinson, 32, and Zoe Molyneux, 22, who volunteer for the St Peter’s Brownies group in the town, have signed up for the London Marathon on April 22 and a four-day, 300-mile cycling challenge from the capital city to Paris two months later.

The pair will also compete in the Disneyland Paris Magic Run half-marathon for the second successive year in September and take part in 5k

and 10k runs on the same weekend.

The fundraisers have set up a crowdfunding page for their endeavours.

They will be raising money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) at each event and have also set up a crowdfunding page for the charity.

Vikki, who works in Halfords’ training department, said: “As we both work with children we thought it would be great to support a charity like the NSPCC.

“We have never run a marathon before so it will definitely be tough, but our training is going well so far.

“We have completed two half-marathons each before and are booked in at a 20-mile event in March to help get us up to speed.

“Zoe is a strong runner and I am a confident cyclist so we will help each other out to get through all the events.”

Vicki and Zoe, who works at a nursery as well as running a children’s entertainment business, have also organised a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play ‘with a twist’ in aid of the NSPCC.

Tickets for the children’s murder mystery at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute on Friday, February 9, are £10 if booked in advance or £15 on the night.

To book tickets call Vikki on 07795 108460 or Zoe on 07771 362383.
