MANAGER of a specialist children's residential home in Bolton has been shortlisted for an award at the National Autistic Society’s autism professional’s awards.

Carmel Perry, from Pocket Nook residential children’s home has been shortlisted for 'Most Inspirational Social Care Professional' at the awards that acknowledge outstanding autism practice.

The Together Trust home, caters for five children and young people all of whom have autism and severe learning disabilities. The home has been graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for seven out of the last nine inspections.

Carmel, who has managed the home for 13 years said: “I am thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award, it’s a great achievement for myself, but also for my whole team at Pocket Nook.”

Together Trust Chief Executive, Mark Lee, added: “I am absolutely delighted that Pocket Nook has been shortlisted for a National Autistic Society award. The work everyone at the Together Trust does is truly fantastic and I am extremely proud to see that recognised.”

Award winners will be announced at an award ceremony taking place during the annual National Autistic Society conference in Harrogate on March 7 2018.
