A CHRISTMAS children's toy appeal has collected nearly 1,000 items for disadvantaged youngsters.
The annual campaign from Bolton Lions raised 973 toys with donations coming from school, churches and stores across the Bolton area.
Lions president Jeff Hartley said: "On behalf of Bolton lions I would like to say a big thank you to the people of Bolton for their fantastic support of our Children Toy Appeal last Christmas.
"The support from schools, churches and local stores in the Bolton area was fantastic we gave to over 400 families toys for Christmas.
"The total children receiving toys this Christmas was 973 a fantastic amount.
"Also a big thank you to every Bolton Lion and families for their efforts this Christmas. Well done everyone. Looking forward to next Christmas toy appeal."
