LEIGH has been named as having the fifth fastest-moving property market in Britain.
The survey by estate agents Right Move looked at how local housing markets have changed over the past year, including the number of properties available and the number of days it takes to secure a buyer to make the findings.
Newport in South Wales was identified as the country's fastest-moving property market, with the average length of time it takes to find a buyer in the city having been slashed by nearly a third over the past year.
Oldham, Scunthorpe, Rochdale, Wrexham and Dewsbury also appeared on the list.
The survey revealed that in Leigh, 26pc fewer properties were available compared with the same time last year and that the average price of a property was £128,809.
