A STAND off between parents and a school continued yesterday as children continued to be kept out of lessons because of their footwear.
Yesterday 34 children were believed to have been sent home from Kearsley Academy because their uniform was incorrect and more were placed into 'inclusion', where they work in isolation.
Kelly Hyman, the mother of two boys who have missed school on three days this week, said: "There are 34 off school today and the rest are in this room. I've never seen anything like it.
"The school said they are willing to speak but they are refusing to speak to parents."
Another mother, Emma Barlow, said: "I’ve had many issues with Kearsley Academy. This week I sent a letter to the school stating that I get paid monthly and would replace my sons footwear when it was payday. They chose to ignore my letter and made him wear shoes that were too small and rubbed his feet. After choosing to ignore my letter I sent another one today and even phoned them up for the complaints procedure.
"They just were not interested."
Mum, Lisa Culshaw complained about the school's lack of consistency, claiming her youngest son, who is in year seven, was told on Monday his shoes were fine. She said: "On Tuesday he was made to change into shoes that school provided which were too small, he wore them all day and now has blisters."
Kearsley Academy did not respond to requests for a comment about the parents' complaints.
