POLICE arrested a man for driving under the influence of drugs after he crashed trying to escape officers.
Emergency services were called to Chip Hill Road on the junction of Wigan Road on Saturday evening after a car was involved in a crash with another vehicle before smashed into a post box and landed on a wall.
The driver of the other car was taken to hospital for a precaution.
Police tweeted: "One male arrested for failing to stop, dangerous driving whilst under the influence."
Firefighters were also called to the scene at 7.15pm to help get the driver out of the other vehicle.
Watch Manager Ian Read said: "We had to spread open the front door to get him out and he was taken to hospital as a precaution."
