A BOLTON pensioner is in the running for Manchester’s most stylish person.

Allan Bradbury is already the most stylish man in the area after being named the only male on a five-person shortlist.

The 74-year-old was put forward for the Lovin Manchester Social Media Awards in the Most Stylish Person category after his friend thought of Mr Bradbury’s “flamboyant” style.

The former counsellor is a well-known figure in the community and was even invited to a tea party by fashion powerhouse Vivienne Westwood.

He said: “I didn’t know I had been nominated until a few days ago, I was absolutely surprised when they told me.

“I’m a little nervous, I have been in the forces and jumped out of aeroplanes, but this is completely something else.”

Allan has lived in Bolton for 40 years, after moving from Cumbria, and has spent much of that time as a counsellor, using his own experiences with drug and alcohol abuse to help others.

Photographer Adrian Drummond-Hill, one of the people to nominate Mr Bradbury, said he was shocked when he first met him but they have since become friends.

He has since become so well-known that when the Vivienne Westwood store unveiled its new collection in Manchester in 2014 organisers singled out the elderly fashionista as an attendee.

He was later contacted by film studio, Northern Heart Films, to make a documentary about his life.

The feature, which has been in production for four years, will detail Allan’s difficult upbringing and follow his life as he became a counsellor and developed his unusual fashion habits.

The results of the Most Stylish Person competition are due to be revealed tomorrow at an event at Manchester’s Cloud 23 bar at the Beetham Tower.

Mr Bradbury thanked Adrian, along with Bolton barber Dean Cocozza.
