BOLTON West MP Chris Green will be swapping Parliament for the pavement when he joins thousands of athletes taking part in this Sunday’s London Marathon.

It is the second time Mr Green will have joined the event which attracts professionals and amateurs from across the world. He will be pounding the capital’s pavements to raise money for Fortalice, a Bolton-based domestic abuse refuge.

The charity is close to Mr Green’s heart and last year he raised the important work it does during Prime Minister's Questions following a visit to the refuge.

A strict training regime yielded results for Mr Green who was one of the 40,000 chosen to take part out of more than 386,000 applicants for this year’s marathon – the most ever.
