ANOTHER secondary school has announced its reducing its pupil intake.

Harper Green School is to reduce its current admission number from 290 to 240 in 2019 as schools across Bolton increase pupil numbers.

Rivington and Blackrod High School in Horwich — which is part of the same academy trust — is also to reduce numbers attending. It is taking its numbers down from 318 to 300.

In a letter by management at the Farnworth school, parents were told: “W highlighted in our consultation letter, reducing our pupil admission number would offer some certainties to the school and would enable us to plan our budget, staffing and curriculum more effectively. This would have a positive impact on outcomes for our students.

“During the process we met with the representatives from the Local Authority. We acknowledge that it is their view that there will be need for additional secondary school places in the near future.

“We have therefore made a commitment to keep this pupil admission number under review. “
