THE University of Bolton is a hit with students, according to new tables published.

It has placed it number one in the Complete University Guide 2019 for overall student satisfaction amongst the Greater Manchester institutions and joint 18th position within the 131 national universities’ league.

The university’s English and maths courses took first place in their respective UK subject leagues for student satisfaction, with creative writing and accountancy both in second place UK-wide.

Within the Greater Manchester region, three subject areas took first place for their student satisfaction scores: accountancy, biological sciences and education.

Across the North-West, six schools of study appeared in the top five rankings for student satisfaction: art and design, civil engineering, construction and education, with nursing and psychology both in first place and the university itself taking fourth place out of 14 universities in the region.

Professor George Holmes, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said:"The student satisfaction ranking of no less than 12 subject schools appearing in the top quartile of universities nationally is an accolade for our dedicated staff and lecturers.

“It demonstrates that our commitment to a teaching intensive, research informed culture is working, assuring students of high teaching standards and experience that best readies them for employment opportunities."

The university has also been placed number one in Greater Manchester and in the top 40 universities in the country in the Whatuni table.
