THE rain did not dampen the spirits of youngsters when they were given a special cycling lesson by an Olympian.
Special Olympics athlete Kiera Byland from Bromley Cross took time out of her training to visit Kearsley West Primary School to inspire nursery children.
They rode special Strider balance bikes
Kiera is in training for the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi next March. She has to raise more than £3,500 for all her costs, including her place, training and equipment. we have donated to her funding pot to say thank you for delivering this wonderful opportunity for our children.”
Gemma Mort, nursery teacher, said: "Regardless of the poor weather, they thoroughly enjoyed every minute and can’t wait to have Kiera come back.
"The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and Kiera was a great teacher at stretching their skills further and we would love to have Kiera back before she goes to Abu Dhabi to wish her good luck."
She added: "We have donated to her funding pot to say thank you for delivering this wonderful opportunity for our children."
