Nurses have been passing the torch, or more accurately the lamp for International Nurses' Day.
The event marks Florence Nightingale, the Lady of the Lamp's birthday on May 12.
Royal Bolton Hospital celebrated it yesterday with many staff dressing up in historical nursing fashion to also mark the NHS' 70th anniversary.
Director of nursing Trish Armstrong-Child passed over a lamp to the next generation during a service in the chapel at Royal Bolton Hospital.
She said: "It’s great to acknowledge their contribution."
