ROYAL wedding celebrations are under way across Bolton as young and old alike turn out to mark the much-anticipated occasion.

Schools across the town have held their very own mock wedding ceremonies, with teachers and pupils alike getting in on the knees-up.

Teachers at Harwood Meadows Primary School donned their best outfits for a glamorous wedding on the school field.

Meanwhile, pupils at St Thomas' CE Primary School, Halliwell, became royalty for the day, dressing as bridge and groom.

Still others decided to dress as members of the royal family, masquerading as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

Balloons, bunting and flags accompanied the colourful celebrations held across the town.

At St Matthew's CE Primary School, in Little Lever, red, blue and white picnicware was laid out on the lawn for pupils to enjoy a lunch in the sunshine.

Children turned out in their fancy frocks, with many creating their own outfits and crowns for the celebration.

The royal wedding will take place at St George's Chapel, Windsor, on Saturday, May 19.

Live coverage of the day's events will be aired on BBC and ITV, with the ceremony taking place at midday.
