A CARAVAN was 'engulfed' in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene last night.
The crew from Farnworth Station were called by neighbours to put out a caravan which had been set alight.
Watch manager Carl Haslam, said: "Neighbours said the caravan had been there about two weeks and they weren't sure who put it there.
"I don't know the condition it was in before but obviously it was set on fire maliciously.
"It was fully on fire when we got there, engulfed. It's been completely destroyed, there's just the chassis left."
Mr Haslam said the caravan had been parked in a communal carpark in St Gregorys Close. The crew was called at 1.20am and it took them about half an hour to deal with the fire.
