THE Mayor of Greater Manchester was one of the thousands who took part in the Great Manchester Run.
The mayor, Andy Burnham, completed the 10k race in 57 minutes and was running in support of the Booth Centre which provides activities, advice and support for people who are homeless in Manchester.
After the race in a video posted to social media Mr Burnham said: "I can't tell you how proud I am of this place, these people.
"There's so many people out supporting the runners — people running for hospitals, hospices, cancer and of course homelessness."
He added that the run had been a 'brilliant occasion'.
The race was won by Sir Mo Farah who overtook Ugandan Moses Kipsiro with just 100m left to go, he finished in 28 minutes 27 seconds.
