A TRIO of churches from Kearsley came together to celebrate Pentecost in the open air.
Congregations from St John Fisher RC Church, Kearsley Mount Methodist Church and St Stephen’s CoE Church – known collectively as “The Churches on the Mount” – were uplifted by the Christian message and the sunshine.
Sunday’s service, in the car park of Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, was attended by more than 150 worshippers. Stephen Tonge,of the Methodist church, said: “It was wonderful for the three denominations to come together in worship. There was real community spirit."
“There was a great turnout by all ages, from babies to pensioners, and, as part of the service, music was provided by Kearsley Youth Brass Band.”
Conducting the service were Father Reginald Ugochukwu, the priest of St John Fisher RC Church, the Rev Thandy Sibanda, a Methodist minister attached to Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, and the Rev Kim Lafferty, vicar of St Stephen’s CoE Church.
