DOMESTIC stables could be converted into a therapeutic horse riding facility if new proposals are given the green light on Thursday.

Planners will have the final say on whether to allow a change of land use to enable the centre to be created on land at Factory Hill, in Horwich.

Applicant Clare O’Donnell wants to build four stables in addition to the two constructed following an earlier application approved in August 2016.

The facility would boast a circular training facility as well as a building which would house a lecture room, toilet facilities.

A previously approved manège area — an enclosed space in which horses and riders are trained — would also be relocated as part of the scheme.

There would be eight horses on site while the number of people at the facility at any one time would be 12 — two facility staff, eight children and two carers.

However, in cases where there are severely disabled children requiring one-one-care on site, the number of youngsters may be reduced.

The proposals were originally due to be heard earlier this month, but the meeting was postponed.
